What is the principle of fuel pumps? Dec 28, 2023

When referring to fuel pump, it usually refers to the fuel pump in the fuel system of an internal combustion engine. The main function of the fuel pump is to deliver fuel from the fuel tank to the engine's fuel injection system, ensuring that the engine can operate normally. The following is the working principle of fuel pump:

1.Suction phase: The fuel pump is usually in the fuel tank. It has an inlet or suction side connected to the fuel tank. In this phase, the pump creates a low-pressure area that allows fuel to be drawn into the pump from the tank.

2.Pressure stage: Once the fuel is sucked into the pump, the pump will increase the pressure and push the fuel into the fuel injection system. This is usually achieved through the movement of a piston or some movable component.

3.Pressure regulation: Fuel pumps usually have a regulating device that can adjust the output pressure based on the engine's working load and other conditions. This ensures that the engine can receive an appropriate amount of fuel under different working conditions.

4.Fuel delivery: Through the fuel delivery pipeline, fuel is delivered to the engine's fuel injection system. Here, fuel is injected into each cylinder at precise times and quantities to achieve optimal combustion performance.

Overall, the fuel pump plays a key role in an internal combustion engine, ensuring that the engine gets the right amount of fuel and maintains the proper fuel pressure under varying load and speed conditions. This helps to improve fuel combustion efficiency and reduce emissions, while ensuring that the engine runs properly!
